Week 6 - Boston Marathon Training Recap

Week 6 down, 12 weeks to go!

I made my goal of 60 miles this week behind two works (speed and tempo) and a handful of easy runs. I took a full rest day on Saturday so as not to push weekly miles more than 10% increase from last week.

Both workouts went well. The early week speed workout felt fluid with a little effort on the final reps. This week will be tougher --- it includes a speed ladder: 400, 800, 1200, 1600, 1200, 800, and 400. That middle mile repeat I'm curious and hopeful I can hold on at sub-5:50 pace. We'll see! The marathon pace also felt good. I had to knock out early Thursday morning (and it was raining hard), so opted to run inside on the treadmill.

This upcoming week will be tough one. Looking at keeping miles to 60, but I'll have three workouts this week: speed, tempo, and long-run at slightly lower than goal pace. The goal is to take the tempo/marathon pace run outside on Thursday. I'm hoping the work schedule and weather allows that to happen.

Overall, uneventful week. But, hey, a few more of those and I'll be ready to go!
