Compound Interest

Einstein called compound interest the most powerful force in the universe.

Put a little money away and nothing changes. A year later, still nothing exciting. Five years later, it feels barely worth the effort. Then, somewhere down the road, the curve bends. The growth starts growing itself. What once depended on your deposits now depends on time.

Most of the result comes long after most of the effort. That's a powerful force.

Consider running. Most runs don’t feel important. You don’t notice change during the week. Or the month. Then one day a pace that used to be hard becomes normal. Nothing special happened that day. The change happened across hundreds of ordinary days. The real work was all the easy runs you almost skipped. The taxing tempo runs. The long runs. The strength sessions that didn’t seem to matter. One run doesn’t make you faster. One missed run doesn’t make you slower. But repeat either long enough and the outcome becomes inevitable.

That’s compound interest.

Running rewards consistency. It accumulates quietly, without announcing itself, until suddenly you’re a different runner.

Best wishes on chasing your running goals,
