Not Just One Thing

Not Just One Thing

Last weekend, Jen Pawol made Major League Baseball history as the first woman to umpire a regular season game. She called the Braves vs. Marlins series—and did a great job. Umpires usually only make headlines when they mess up, so it was neat to see Jen get a standing ovation from the Atlanta crowd.

There’s another umpire I appreciate. You might, too.

His name is Edwin Moscoso. What you probably didn’t know is that before he ever picked up a mask and chest protector… he earned a degree in chemical engineering.

That’s right. The guy calling balls and strikes can also explain thermodynamics.

Moscoso studied ChemE, then took a left turn—enrolled in umpire school, climbed through the minors, called a perfect game in 2023, and now wears #32 in the big leagues.

I love this story.

It reminds me that we’re not just one thing. You’re not just a runner. You’re not just a parent, a professional, a partner. You’re all of it—layered, complex, and always changing.

I built Peregrune for the same reason. I got tired of taking eight different supplements and still wondering if I was doing it right. So I used my chemical engineering background to fix the problem—for me, and now for thousands of runners.

Moscoso used his ChemE brain to call strikes. We both changed paths. Maybe you have too.

Best wishes on chasing your running goals!
